DALI4US (Data Literacy for Upper Primary Schools)

The Oide Digital Technologies team are delighted to announce the launch of the DALI4US (Data Literacy for Upper Primary Schools) Project in Ireland for the 2025/26 school year. We are excited to share details of this Erasmus+ funded initiative, which we are leading in collaboration with partners in Luxembourg and Slovenia.
What is DALI4US?
DALI4US (Data Literacy for Upper Primary Schools) aims to equip primary school teachers with the necessary confidence, knowledge, skills, and attitudes to teach data literacy effectively.
By empowering primary school teachers to teach data literacy, we prepare students for the digital age and help them become knowledgeable and engaged citizens in a world focused on data. Through inquiry-based learning experiences, we will explore opportunities to integrate data literacy across the primary curriculum.
Project Highlights:
- Innovative focus: This project introduces upper primary students (5th and 6th class) to data literacy that goes beyond statistical literacy in mathematics, helping them understand how data informs the digital world, including the principles behind AI and large language models.
- Hands-on learning: Students will engage in inquiry-based, cross-curricular activities, from data collection and classification to storytelling and prediction using OrangeEDU software. This is free software for machine learning and data mining that has been tailored for this project.
- Teacher empowerment: Participating teachers will gain confidence and skills to integrate data literacy into their teaching, with ready-to-use classroom scenarios aligned with the new Primary Curriculum Framework (NCCA, 2023) and accompanying specifications.
