Applying the Science of Reading to a Picture Book across the week in a First to Third Class using connected learning
This webinar will take participants on a journey into how the science of reading informs best Literacy practice with First to Third class. The research will underpin the pedagogical approach to using connected learning in development of Literacy skills across the curriculum.
The webinar will be accompanied by the slides and a range of resources explored within the webinar.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will explore the components of the Science of Reading in relation to Early, Emergent and Fluent readers.
Participants will examine a range of resources suitable for this age group in developing connected learning for the three strands of the PLC.
Participants will investigate the scaffolded approach to learning and planning for Literacy across a week in First to Third class.
Facilitator:
Catherine Gilliland is an experienced Literacy specialist with numerous publications. Her work has taken her across Europe and was a speaker at The World Literacy Summit in 2020. Her talent for storytelling makes her webinars engaging and very popular with teachers. She recently presented at the ISLA 2024 conference.
