Embedding Digital Technologies in Primary Maths Webinar

      

This webinar is a collaboration between Kilkenny Education Centre, Cork Education Support Centre, West Cork Education Centre, Co. Wexford Education Centre and Waterford Teachers' Centre.

This webinar will provide a practical, teacher-friendly overview of the opportunities to meaningfully embed digital technology tools into Maths teaching. Attendees will leave the webinar ready to utilise various platforms, tools and resources that support problem solving and also enhance learning outcomes in Maths.

Breed Murphy

Breed Murphy is an Assistant Lecturer in Mathematics Education at Marino Institute of Education. Breed taught in Croagh N.S., Co. Limerick, before joining the Maths Ed. Team in Marino, where she taught multigrade classes. Breed is a PhD candidate in Mary Immaculate College and her research investigates mathematical outcomes for children in multigrade classes. Her research interests include mathematics achievement, dispositions towards maths and the influence of home factors on mathematics outcomes.

Ciara Reilly

Ciara Reilly is an Assistant Lecturer in Digital Education at the Marino Institute of Education, working across various Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes.  She was previously a Primary school teacher in St. Peter's Primary, Bray, and has also worked as an Advisor in Digital Technologies for the PDST Digital Technologies Team.  She is a Doctoral student in Digital Learning in DCU.  She is a regular commentator on education matters, appearing on RTÉ Radio, Newstalk and in The Irish Times.

Sorcha Browne Byrne

Sorcha Browne Byrne is a Lecturer in Mathematics Education at Marino Institute of Education. She is a former Primary school teacher with experience teaching all age levels. Sorcha holds a Master of Science Degree in Developmental Psychology and Mathematics from the University of Oxford, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Mathematics Education at UCD. Sorcha has an extensive knowledge of Primary School Mathematics, as well as the psychology of children’s mathematical development and its implications on mathematics teaching and learning. Her research interests include theories of mathematics learning, culturally response pedagogy, informal learning, and inclusive mathematics education.
