Terms & Conditions for Kilkenny Education Centre (Updated January 2015) Creating an Account for Course Bookings: To book a place on any course advertised on our website users must first create an account. To do this follow the steps outlined on the Front Page of the website. You will then receive an activation email. To complete the setting up of your account, please click on the link in the activation email. NB: Remember to check your junk mail if the activation email is not in you inbox.

COURSE BOOKINGS: All Courses: Kilkenny Education Centre reserves the right to cancel a course in the event of under-booking. Summer Courses: In the event of a Summer Course being cancelled due to under-booking, every effort will be made to accommodate participants on another course or the Registration Fee will be refunded in full. On Line Booking: Warning re Internet Connection failure: As some internet connections can fail or "time out" in the middle of a session, please be aware that on-line booking and payment, if required, for courses in Kilkenny Education Centre is only complete when you have received the following 2 e-mails: 1) Confirmation e-mail of payment from PayPal 2) Confirmation of registration e-mail from Kilkenny Education Centre (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) In the case of Summer Courses, if you have not received BOTH of these Emails shortly after completing the registration process please contact the Centre as your registration may not have completed and you may not have secured a place on the course of your choice. Refunds/Cancellations: As all PayPal payments incur a charge, all monies refunded will reflect this charge. All refunds will be made by cheque as soon as possible after cancellation.

-Refund Policy - We understand that plans can change. To ensure fairness and smooth administration, the following applies:

    • Full Refund: Available for cancellations made 48 hours or more before the scheduled course start time.
    • No Refund: Requests received less than 48 hours prior to the course start time cannot be processed.  Failure to attend will not be eligible for a refund.

    • Processing: Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method within 7 working days. An administrative fee of €2.00 applies to cover transaction costs.
    • Centre Cancellations: If the Centre cancels a course, you will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to another course.

How can I book my place on a CPD?

You can book your place on a CPD by following the step-by-step instructions below.

Step 1 - Click the 'REGISTER' button

Step 2 - Complete the Registration Form

Step 3 - Check your email (and spam box) for Registration Confirmation

Step 4 - Return to the website and log in

Step 5 - Go to the 'CPD' tab, select your chosen CPD and book your place. If the CPD is free, check your email for Booking Confirmation

Paid CPD?

Step 6 - If payment is required, you will be redirected to Stripe

Step 7 - Once you process your payment via Stripe, check your email for Booking Confirmation and receipt of payment

Why do I need to register?

Registration allows you to track your course history for CPD purposes. To track your CPD course history, please log in to the website and click on 'My CPD Courses'.

Your Profile contains your registration data. For example, you can change your password, email address and contact details via your Profile.

How do I access my Certificate of Attendance for a CPD I attended?

You can access a Certificate of Attendance for each CPD you attend with the Centre by following the step-by-step instructions below.

Step 1 - Click the 'Login' button to log in to the Centre website

Step 2 - Click on 'My CPD Courses (old)'. Beside each CPD you have attended with the Centre you will see a 'Print' option under the 'CPD Cert' heading, or

                   Click on 'My Courses and Certs (New!)'. Beside each CPD you have attended with the Centre you will see a code e.g. KK12345

Step 3 - Click 'Print' or the relevant code, as appropriate, and a PDF Certificate of Attendance will automatically download to your computer

About Us

Kilkenny Education Support Centre has a long pre-history as a voluntary body under the name of Kilkenny Teachers' Centre. In September 1997, we were transformed into a full-time Education Support Centre by the Department of Education and our name changed.

  • Vision and Mission

    We, the Management Committee and Staff of Kilkenny Education Support Centre, envisage an open and innovative Centre, which inspires and supports teaching and learning in the education community.

    Kilkenny Education Support Centre seeks to realise its vision by facilitating the sharing of ideas and the communication of knowledge with the learning community through the ongoing provision and development of services and resources. 

  • Management Committee

    The Management Committee is elected each year at our Annual General Meeting.

  • Staff

    John O' Sullivan is the Director of Kilkenny Education Support Centre. The Centre has administrative and ancillary staff who facilitate the day-to-day operation of the Centre.

The Centre is a member of Education Support Centres Ireland (ESCI). ESCI is the umbrella organisation of 21 full-time and nine part-time Education Support Centres in Ireland. It represents the interest of the Network as a whole, including both part-time and full-time Directors, staff and Management Committees of all Education Support Centres.

Freedom of Information Act - Manuals 15 and 16

Kilkenny Education Support Centre Freedom of Information, Sections 15 and 16 Reference Book is a guide to the function, records, rules and practices of Kilkenny Education Support Centre. This Reference Book is compiled in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1997, as amended by the Freedom of Information Act 2003. All references in this Manual to the Freedom of Information Act/s refer to the 1997 Act as amended by the 2003 Act. 


The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act, effective from 21st April 1998, establish three new statutory rights:

  • A legal right for each person to access information held by public bodies,
  • A legal right for each person to have official information relating to him/herself amended where it is incomplete, incorrect or misleading,
  • A legal right to obtain reasons for decisions affecting onself.

Access to Information on the Environment (AIE)

You have the right to obtain environmental information from Kilkenny Education Support Centre under the European Communities (Access to Information on the Environment) Regulations 2007 (as amended). The AIE legislation sets out the procedures for public access to information relating to the environment held by public bodies.

To make a request to Kilkenny Education Support Centre under AIE legislation, we ask that you submit your request electronically to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or in writing to: John O' Sullivan, FOI Officer, Kilkenny Education Support Centre, Seville Lodge, Callan Road, Kilkenny. In your request we ask that you:

  • Specify that you are making the request under AIE legislation and clearly state the environmental information that you are requesting,
  • Please try to provide as much detail as possible to enable us to process your request efficiently, and
  • Include your return address.

You will receive a response within one month from the date on which the request is received by the Kilkenny Education Support Centre FOI Officer.

Disclaimer/Note: Please be advised that Public bodies may refuse AIE requests on certain mandatory grounds (personal information/third party information) or discretionary grounds (commerical confidentiality etc.).

Charges: There is no initial fee for making an AIE request. However, if you require hard copies there may be a fee of 5c per sheet depending on the volume of information contained in the request. A charge of €10.16 applies to the provision of information on a CD-ROM. Postage will be at An Post rates at the time of posting.

Appeals: If you would like to appeal a decision made by Kilkenny Education Support Centre you can do so by sending a request in writing asking for an internal review of the decision. Please address your review request to: John O' Sullivan, FOI Officer, Kilkenny Education Support Centre, Seville Lodge, Callan Road, Kilkenny. If after the internal review you are unsatisfied with the decision and would like to make a complaint or appeal the decision again, you can do so by contacting the Office of the Commissioner for Environmental Information ("CEI"). You must appeal or make a complaint to the CEI within one month of getting the reviewed decision from Kilkenny Education Support Centre.
