Education Conferences and Events Autumn 2023
The Irish Learning Support Association (ILSA) Annual Conference, entitled The Teacher: A Guiding Hand, will take place in Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort on Friday 29th September 2023. Tickets for the Conference are now available via Eventbrite. More information is available on the ILSA website. ILSA advise teachers to book their Conference ticket early as their Spring Conference 2023 was sold out.
The French Teachers' Association of Ireland (FTA) Annual Conference will take place on Saturday 30th September 2023 in the Iontas Theatre, Maynooth University. By attending the Conference, teachers can improve their homework and evaluation techniques and strategies as the new academic year starts! The theme of the Conference is L’évaluation Formative et Sommative; how teachers of French can ensure, in a practical manner, that real learning is taking place in the classroom, real learning that will also lead to success in the context of more formal evaluation. The Conference is organised by the FTA Irlande (French Teachers' Association of Ireland), in conjunction with the Department of Education, the International Federation of French Teachers, the French Embassy in Ireland and sponsors.
The Annual Post Primary Music Teachers Association (PPMTA) Conference will take place in Hotel Kilkenny from Friday 13th October - Sunday 15th October 2023. The theme of the Conference this year is The Modern Music Classroom, All Levels, No Limits! Updates on how to register will follow in due course. All updates and developments in relation to the Conference will be posted on the Post Primary Music Teachers Association website.
The Diversity and Intercultural Education Network (DIEN) was launched in March 2023 as a safe and supportive space for educators, at all levels, to share skills, information, knowledge and good practice in supporting Diversity and Inclusion in schools, classrooms and educational environments. DIEN aim to host a gathering twice a year, in Autumn and again in Spring, to empower educators by providing speakers and workshops that contribute to good practice. The next DIEN gathering will take place on Saturday 14th October 2023 in St. Patrick’s Campus, Mary Immaculate College, Thurles. The theme of this gathering is Understanding Inclusion and Diversity in the Classroom.
The Languages Connect Summit 2023, a Conference for Modern Foreign Language teachers, will take place on Saturday 14th October 2023 in the Convention Centre Dublin. The Summit is the first event of its kind for foreign language teaching and learning in Ireland, and is an opportunity for language teachers to collaborate with peers and be inspired by leaders in the field. With over fifty diverse workshops to choose from, provided by teachers for teachers, the Department of Education agencies, and international experts, the Summit will support teachers by enhancing their practice in their school, relevant to their students. Get students talking, manage mixed ability classes, use new technology with students, or get resources for Transition Year! Explore how to promote inclusion, support EAL learners in your MFL classroom, or find out more about Content and Language Integrated Learning! The Summit is run in collaboration with the Department of Education, PDST, JCT, COGG, Léargas and Post-Primary Languages Ireland.
BeLonG To, the national organisation supporting LGBTQ+ young people in Ireland, will run their annual Stand Up Awareness Week from Monday 6th November - Friday 10th November 2023. BeLonG To’s Stand Up Awareness Week is a time for Post Primary schools, youth services and Youthreach centres in Ireland to join BeLonG To and take a stand against homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying. The week is an opportunity to take steps to make spaces safe and supportive for LGBTQ+ young people. BeLonG To will offer training sessions during September 2023 to help people prepare for Stand Up Awareness Week 2023.
