Creative Thinking and Metacognition in the Classroom: Using LEGO® Serious Play Materials and Methodology

Building with LEGO® bricks is a fun and powerful way to engage the brain into thinking with the hands. This introductory workshop will look at ways to use LEGO® to explore hand mind connections and learning. This hands-on practical workshop will include a range of enjoyable and engaging activities to support active thinking, connecting, learning and sharing using LEGO® Serious Play®. The methodology is suitable for use with a wide range of participants including management, teachers and students.
Miriam O' Donoghue
Miriam is an experienced teacher, trainer, facilitator and manager and has worked across all levels in education: Primary, Post Primary, Further Education and Higher Education (Teacher Education). Miriam has also worked as a Support Officer as part of the Leaving Certificate Applied Support Service and is a trained facilitator of LEGO® Serious Play for Positive Psychology. She is the author of a series of 24 arts and crafts books for Primary schools. More recently, she worked as National Manager of the Further Education Support Service (FESS) and Director of the CDETB Curriculum Development Unit.
