On this Summer Course, participants will learn to lead children in an observation based enquiry into painting and sculpture, involving many sensory responses and supporting different learning styles. The course will use an educational approach, developed in the world’s leading art museums, to engage with visual art in a museum setting. The course content includes educational theories and methodologies, practical activity-based encounters with Irish modern and contemporary art and art-making activities for the classroom. All of this course will take place in the beautiful museum setting of Butler Gallery, Kilkenny.
Hollie Kearns, MA Art History and Cultural Studies, is the Learning and Public Engagement Curator in the Butler Gallery, Kilkenny. Hollie has 12 years experience in curating artistic projects, exhibitions, community-based arts practice and museum education.
