This webinar is a collaboration between Kilkenny Education Centre, West Cork Education Centre, Co. Wexford Education Centre and Waterford Teachers' Centre.

This webinar will focus on:

  • Exploring common literacy challenges for EAL learners,
  • Examining both explicit and implicit literacy teaching approaches for EAL learners,
  • Participants receiving a pamphlet of online resources, websites, applications, and
  • Introducing the TEAL Project, Limerick.

Dr. Fíodhna Gardiner-Hyland

Dr. Fíodhna Gardiner-Hyland is a lecturer in Language and Literacy Education at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. As a former chair of TESOL Arabia young learner's special interest group, Fíodhna has international and national experience of teaching, lecturing, consulting and publishing in the area of second language and literacy education. Recently she contributed to writing the online English Programme Starlight with Folens Publishers and currently co-ordinates the TEAL Project, Limerick, a philanthropic-funded Mary Immaculate College Project in collaboration with the ‘Oscailt’ schools network in Limerick City.
