Visual Arts for Literacy, Learning and Life
This course is for everybody who loves to see the joy and enthusiasm of children engaged in the Visual Arts process. It is particularly focused on building teachers’ confidence in their ability to teach Visual Arts and to use the world of art as an opening to a magical range of learning experiences for all their students. Participants will engage with all six strands of the Visual Arts Curriculum in a child and teacher friendly way and compile a rich, but practical, portfolio of ideas for use with their students and for their personal enjoyment.
Participants will have an opportunity to explore materials, skills, thematic ideas and works of many of the great artists and will leave the course with a simple, yet comprehensive, scheme of work for use with their own students in the forthcoming school year.
Opportunities for integration and linkage across all curriculum areas will be highlighted in addition to Internet links, useful websites and active learning opportunities. All projects are simple and geared towards the Primary Classroom, so, if you’ve always been shy or fearful of finding your inner artist then this is the course for you!
