Exploring Primary Language Curriculum
The Primary Language Curriculum is a new integrated curriculum, which focuses on the teaching and learning of both English and Irish from Junior Infants to Second Class. This course will explore the three strands of the Primary Language Curriculum: Oral Language, Reading and Writing. The aim of this course is to help you become more familiar with the new curriculum and, in particular, to help you become more comfortable in using the learning outcomes and the progression continua as a support in structuring teaching and learning experiences within your class. A range of methodologies and ideas will be discussed throughout the week, including the use of play as a methodology, the dialogic classroom, the transfer of skills across languages, etc. This will be an interesting and interactive summer course which teachers will find highly beneficial as they continue with the implementation of the Primary Language Curriculum in the coming year.
