Action for Life - Primary School Teacher Training Workshop
Please Note: This workshop will now take place on Tuesday 5th December 2017 from 4 - 5.30p.m. instead of Tuesday 14th November 2017 as previously advertised.
Action for Life is a health related physical activity resource for Primary schools designed to support teachers with the roll-out of their P.E. programme. Action for Life is supported by the Department of Education and Skills and the Health Service Executive. There are four manuals, one for each of the four class levels; Junior and Senior Infants; First and Second Class; Third and Fourth Class; Fifth and Sixth Class. The resource reflects both the P.E. and SPHE curricula with a focus on the strands of athletics, dance and gymnastics. Adaptations for those with differing abilities are included within the activities.
The this practical workshop takes teachers through Action for Life and how it is delivered in the classroom in a fun and experiential way. As part of the teacher training, the Irish Heart Foundation will provide your school with the following resources:
- Action for Life set of manuals
- 1 Bizzy Break and 1 Bizzy Break for Rainy Days
- Let’s Get Active pocket planners (4 week activity challenge), and
As this is a practical workshop, please wear comfortable clothes and footwear. Also, please bring an exercise mat with you if possible.
