Using Checklists and Diagnostic Tests as Effective Tools for Teaching, Planning and Assessment
This course will:
- Discuss the use of standardised tests as diagnostic tools,
- Introduce some checklists for use as aids to the identification of language difficulties, dyspraxia, dyslexia, ADHD etc., and
- Discuss and demonstrate a variety of diagnostic tests including The Phonological Assessment Battery, The British Picture Vocabulary Scale, PM Benchmarking Kit, Test 2R, Profile of Mathematical Skills etc.
Myriam Gately (M.Ed) is a Primary school teacher with more that fifteen years experience working as a Special Education Teacher in a rural school in Co. Wexford. She has delivered workshops and Summer courses on many areas pertaining to special education, including IEP planning, diagnostic testing, dyslexia, dyspraxia and team teaching. Myriam has also delivered courses on peer tutoring, literacy, comprehension and inclusion.
Following on from this course, the Centre will be compiling a bank of assessment tools which can be borrowed by schools on a short term basis.
